End of School Year

It is the end of the 2018-2019 school year. Our thanks go out to everyone who donated money or books. Also, thank you to our tutors for donating your time. We could not do this without all of your support. The BLP will be continuing it's programs the next school year (2021-2022), and look forward to working to maintain our existing programs and expand our reach. Check back in September for more club updates and to apply for our tutoring programs.
Have a great summer!

Mather Spring Fling 2019

The BLP continued the tradition of helping out at the Mather School Spring Fling. We painted faces and nails, helped out with games and bouncy castles, and donated books! It was a great way to finish out our year of tutoring at Mather!

Ice Cream Party Finishes Spring Tutoring

Spring Tutoring at High Street Low Income Housing ended with a resounding bang this week. Tutors and students gathered at the Family Learning Center for an afternoon of ice cream, henna, games, and other sweet treats. Thank you again to JP Licks for donating ice cream and making this event possible!

Charity Concert Featuring BHS Bands

On May 18th, the BLP held a charity concert featuring two Brookline High School bands, Train Trick and Tomtsu. Anna's Taqueria generously donated burritos and chips, which were enjoyed by the guests and band members. Thank you to everyone who came to the concert! Tutoring Has Begun!

The fall season for tutoring has started, and has, as usual, been fantastic and entertaining. CLUB MEMBER IN THE NEWS!
Our amazing member and tutoring co-director, Haley, was featured recently in the Boston Globe for the work that she does to find unclaimed assets online that belong to strangers. Upon returning the money, Haley only requests that in exchange they donate a small portion to either the BLP, Cradles to Crayons, or the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which has proved very successful. So far, she has raised thousands for each organization, which we are so grateful for and amazed by. One coordinator at Cradles to Crayons said, "She's really into service and is one of the most selfless individuals I've ever met. She's always thinking about others... Everything she does, you can tell she's doing it from the heart."  Check out the article here.

A CAPELLA FUNDRAISER: THANK YOU!
Thank you to Revisions, Mr. Polos, and the entire cast for your hard work and amazing performances on Friday and Saturday! We are so grateful for the over $800 that was raised, and we look forwards to using it for resources in the Mather and Timilty Schools in Dorchester.

WINTER CARNIVAL AT THE MATHER
A group of tutors travelled last Friday afternoon to help out at the Mather School's Winter Carnival. We love events like these because they allow us to better get to know the communities we work with every week. Here is a picture of one of the cookies that was decorated by a student at our cookie decorating station!

NEW MEMBERS AND A BAKE SALE
Last Thursday we had our first official meeting with the new members, and today (November 3rd) we had an awesome bake sale! The event's tremendous success was largely thanks to a good amount of new members who made delicious treats to sell. We made money to support this season's tutoring session, which is off and running, among other things. Thanks to everyone who made food or came out to support us! Headmaster Meyer loved the cupcakes.
